High altitude mountaineering lead by IFMGA Guide

High altitude mountaineering is much more than simply hiking to a high summit. It’s a journey into some of the most remote and awe-inspiring parts of our planet—where weather, terrain and human limits all converge. On these adventures you’ll push beyond the ordinary: stepping onto glaciers, ascending steep snow-and-ice slopes, navigating crevasses, dealing with thin air and embracing the mountain’s raw power. With the right guide, team and preparation it becomes not just a climb—but a deep, meaningful experience of the mountains.

What we offer

Our high altitude mountaineering programme is built around customised training, technical guiding, and fully supported expeditions — tailored for serious aspiring climbers with ambition. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Pre-expedition training – We’ll design a training schedule for you: glacier travel, rope-techniques, ice-axe & crampon work, fixed-rope skills, avalanche awareness and high-altitude fitness.

  • Route planning & logistics – We handle permit arrangements, base camp setup, high camps, route reconnaissance, weather monitoring and emergency planning.

  • Certified guiding – As an experienced Himalayan guide and instructor, I bring over a decade of hands-on experience in snow, ice and rock across the world. (see About for more details)

  • Acclimatisation & safety – Proper acclimatisation is key for high altitude success and safety. We’ll schedule climbs, rest days, elevation gains and allow your body to adapt. We’ll also carry the right safety gear, provide route-fixing expertise and manage risk.

  • Cultural & environmental respect – As much as the climb, the mountains are a living landscape of nature and culture. We’ll engage respectfully with local communities, leave no trace, and climb responsibly.

  • Tailored experiences – Whether your goal is a 6000 m “peak climb”, a classic 7000 m Nepali summit, or stepping into the “eight‐thousanders” arena, we’ll map your path and support you every step of the way.

What you’ll gain

  • Unforgettable views and the deep satisfaction of standing on high summits, above the clouds.

  • Developed skills in mountaineering: glacier travel, crevasse rescue, high camp strategy, rope systems, navigation in complex terrain.

  • Heightened awareness of your physical and mental limits — and how to go beyond them.

  • A profound connection with the mountain environment & local culture.

  • Confidence to graduate to ever more challenging climbs—if that’s your ambition.

Who it’s for

  • Climbers who have prior experience (treks, lower-altitude peaks) and want to move into serious mountaineering.

  • Individuals or small teams comfortable pushing into remote terrain and complex mountain environments.

  • People willing to train in advance, commit to acclimatisation, and work with a guide on risk management.

  • Those who value not just reaching the summit, but climbing with purpose, awareness and respect.

Sample itinerary

Here’s what a typical expedition with us might look like:

  1. Arrive Kathmandu → transport to trailhead → trek to base camp.

  2. Acclimatisation hikes + skill refresher sessions.

  3. Load carry to intermediate camp → back to base for rest.

  4. Move to high camp → summit push.

  5. Descent, recovery trek, return to Kathmandu.
(Note: Actual itinerary will depend on peak, weather, route, and client fitness.)

Safety & preparation

High altitude climbing comes with risks: altitude sickness, weather extremes, avalanches, crevasses. We mitigate these through:

  • Pre-expedition fitness screening and training.

  • Acclimatisation plan and oxygen/evacuation readiness.

  • Guide-led risk assessments, route evaluation, high-quality gear.

  • High standard of client-to-guide ratio to ensure individual attention.

Gear & what to bring

You will need technical mountaineering gear: ice-axe, crampons, harness, helmet, fixed rope equipment, high-altitude boots, insulated down suit, layered clothing, glacier sunglasses, etc. We’ll provide a detailed gear checklist well in advance and are available to advise on rental vs purchase.
